BRIEF NOTE
Jagatsinghpur Head Post Office, the 1st Post Office under Jagatsinghpur District is going to be migrated to Core Banking Solution (CBS) Platform today. This is the second post office of Cuttack South Postal Division on CBS platform. This is an important landmark day in the history of Jagatsinghpur Head Post office and also for the people of this locality. With this new transformation, now the existing 53423 account holders/customers of this Head Post Office and all the new customers will be able to avail “Anytime and Anywhere Banking” facility from all post offices on CBS platform on PAN-India basis along with many value –added customer-centric services like online banking, ATM Card, Debit Card, SMS and Mobile banking in near future. Now this Head Post Office customer will also be able to avail the facility of transfer of money through NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer) or RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement System). The Postal ATM under construction at Jagatsinghpur HO campus is going to be operational very shortly. In coming days, its customers will be able to draw money at any time (24 hours x7 days) from this ATM and any Postal ATMs situated across the country and also they will be able to use its Debit Card to buy merchandise from any retail outlets. In near future also, Postal Department has the plans of convergence of its CBS platform with CBS platform of banking industry so that postal customers will be able to draw money from any Bank ATMs and bank account holders will also be allowed to use postal ATMs for withdrawing money.
Department of Posts, Govt. of India, the world’s Largest Postal System has set the ambitious plan of networking all over 154822 post offices located at almost every nooks and corners of India and linking it to a single virtual platform so as to provide all citizens’ especially rural populace the modern day benefits of IT/IT enabled services with affordable cost. As on date, on all India basis, 1841 Head Post Offices and Sub Post Offices (including 22 Post Offices from Odisha) have migrated to CBS platform. All the Head Post Offices and Sub Post Offices of India (25444) are going to be migrated to CBS very soon. Rest village Branch Post Offices (129378) are proposed in 2nd phase. Once this is completed, this huge national asset can be effectively exploited for providing many new services matching to the needs of society and all the govt. benefits, information to every people of India even staying in remotest part of India. It will reinforce the role of this 160 years age-old government department to serve its people with full commitment.

Jagatsinghapur District Population 2011

In 2011, Jagatsinghapur had population of 1,136,604 of which male and female were 577,699 and 558,905 respectively. In 2001 census, Jagatsinghapur had a population of 1,057,629 of which males were 538,881 and remaining 518,748 were females. Jagatsinghapur District population constituted 2.71 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Jagatsinghapur District was at 2.87 percent of Maharashtra population.

Jagatsinghapur District Population Growth Rate

There was change of 7.47 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Jagatsinghapur District recorded increase of 13.26 percent to its population compared to 1991.

Jagatsinghapur District Density 2011

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that density of Jagatsinghapur district for 2011 is 681 people per sq. km. In 2001, Jagatsinghapur district density was at 634 people per sq. km. Jagatsinghapur district administers 1,668 square kilometers of areas.

Jagatsinghapur Literacy Rate 2011

Average literacy rate of Jagatsinghapur in 2011 were 87.13 compared to 79.08 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 93.20 and 80.88 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 88.55 and 69.28 in Jagatsinghapur District. Total literate in Jagatsinghapur District were 900,104 of which male and female were 488,401 and 411,703 respectively. In 2001, Jagatsinghapur District had 737,848 in its district.
